Once a favorite area of the Cheyenne tribe, this area is a scenic retreat set on a canyon bluff that overlooks ancient mesas. Towering cedars, buffalo grass, and wild blue sage add to the beauty of the legendary setting, and to the enjoyment of numerous recreational activities.

Lake Watonga is located next Roman Nose Resort Park is one of the original seven Oklahoma State Parks, constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and opened to the public in 1937. Today, Roman Nose Resort Park features a lodge, cabins, RV and tent campsites and an 18-hole golf course.
The park features distinctive white outcroppings of gypsum and beautiful mesas. Hiking, biking and equestrian trails offer visitors spectacular vistas and a wide range of recreational opportunities.
The lake has excellent recreational facilities in connection with state park. There is a lodge, restaurant, riding stables, cabins, picnic tables, grills, showers, electricity and one boat ramp.
Lake Watonga Fish & Licenses
Watonga Lake has winter trout fishing and trout tournaments in the spring and summer. Register online for the Watonga Trout Derby.
Roman Nose State Park
Once a winter campground of the Cheyenne tribe, this area now is a scenic retreat set on a canyon bluff that over-looks ancient mesas. Towering cedar, buffalo grass and wild blue sage add to the beauty of this legendary setting, and to the enjoyment of the many recreational activities.
Named after a Cheyenne Chief, this resort is set amidst a beautiful canyon, recreation activities at this state park include an 18 hole golf course, swimming pools, tennis courts, volleyball court, hiking trails, two lakes (Lake Voecher & Lake Watonga), trout fishing in season, canoeing, paddleboating, mountain biking, horse stables and hayrides by reservation. Group camps, picnic areas, tent and RV campsites & hookups are located throughout the park. The area also offers good opportunities for fall foliage and wildlife viewing.
