Located in the scenic Kiamichi Mountains, the upper Mountain Fork empties into Broken Bow Reservoir and the Lower Mountain Fork flows south of the lake winding through Beaver's Bend State Park.

Mountain Fork River is one of the best fishing streams in the Midwest. It offers twelve miles of excellent rainbow trout fishing. A trophy brown trout area offers a catch and release program. The upper Mountain Fork River is one of the best smallmouth bass streams in the state.
Mountain Fork River has been the focus of several magazine articles and the subject of a few fishing films. The stream is best fished from a canoe or flat bottom John boat.
A word of caution to the first time visitor to the stream is needed. Depending on the stream flow, the rock outcroppings that cross the stream at several locations often appear as continuing unbroken flat water to the floater. You can suddenly find yourself going over the falls of one of these rock outcroppings and flip your boat. For the most part though, the stream is an easy, pleasant floating experience.
Presbyterian Falls is one of the favorite sites among knowledgeable flyfishers. The area is characterized by shelf rock created water falls, medium to large boulders and deep holes. The area is accessed by unmarked, backcountry roads that can be difficult to navigate. The last down hill stretch to the stream may require a high clearance or 4 wheel drive vehicle depending on how washed out the road has become.

Beavers Bend Resort State Park is located along the shores of Broken Bow Lake and the Mountain Fork River.
Towering timbers, crystal clear waters and mountainous terrain form what is affectionately referred to as Oklahoma's "Little Smokies." With a Riverbend area featuring acres of events and recreational programs, these parks are an outdoor lover's paradise.
Recreation opportunities offer the 18 hole Cedar Creek Golf Course, hiking, biking and nature trails, tennis and volleyball, trout fishing, water skiing, nature center activities, river float trips, miniature golf, paddleboats, bumper boats and canoeing, horseback riding, picnic sites, hayrides and train rides. An amphitheatre, gift shop, grocery, restaurant and the Forest Heritage Center on site also.
