The Blue River is near Tishomingo (which is about 30 miles east of Ardmore and I-35) there is a stretch of the Blue River populated with a series of some 50 granite ledges; 6 of them create waterfalls that are 6 feet or better and another 2 are reportedly 8 and 12 feet. Though nearly flat for 40 miles, the Blue River collects water from over 200 square miles of watershed. Then, on its way to join the Red River, it drops off a granite plateau in a series of cascades and falls for a 14 mile stretch.

Most of this stretch of the Blue River is in the state-designated Blue River Public Hunting and Fishing Area.

Please note that the properties along the Blue River, above and below the Blue River Public Hunting and Fishing Area, are privately owned and posted. Penalties for trespassing, for any reason, can be severe in Oklahoma.

FISH & LICENSES

This river is mainly for fishing year round. It is also designated for Trout Fishing from November 1 to March 31.

Participate in the Blue River Trout Derby each November & February. Over $1000 in trophies & door prizes.

From Tishomingo Oklahoma, go 5 miles north on Highway 377, 4 1/2 miles east to Blue River, or from Tishomingo go 3 miles east on Highway 78 and 5 miles north on Bullard Chapel Rd. Blue River is 1 hour and 45 minutes from Oklahoma City, Dallas, Texas and Tulsa. Blue River is within an hour and a half from many cities in North Texas.

BOGGY DEPOT STATE PARK

This park gets its name from Clear Boggy Creek which flows to the east, and from its use as a Confederate commissary depot during the Civil War. Located along the old Texas Road between Ft. Gibson and Ft. Washita, Boggy Depot was a well established crossroads during the Civil War. Park features include a fishing lake, nature/walking trail, softball/baseball diamond, playground, picnic tables, group picnic shelters, charcoal grills, campsites and comfort stations with showers. 6 full hook-up RV sites, 20 sites with water & electric.
